| My Path Along The Artists Way
I first read this book about twelve years ago. At that time I read through it pretty quickly and did not do any of the exercises Julia Cameron asks the reader to do. I thought what a great book this was, and that possibly someday I would have time to make the commitment to do the required tasks. In other words it was another project waiting to be put into action! For twelve years it sat! Well, the time is now and I have made the commitment to do the work this time! This is a big undertaking for me because Julia has many tasks to complete each week. I remember being overwhelmed the first time I read this book, and looking back this was the main reason I put it aside for a later date. However, I have to say I was happy to read in her new edition that Julia is not asking us to complete every one of the tasks each week, but pick and choose several to work on. Doing the morning pages and going on an artist date is required every week though.
We are all creative in our own unique way. To be here manifesting is creative creation in action! What I like about this particular book is Julia has many insights and ways to help me, and you too, excavate our creative self. This is that part of us that is the architect and designer of our life. Somehow in growing up we forgot to consult with this part of ourselves for much of our life. And so it seems, alot of our life has been designed around what others want and think. This work can help reclaim our divine diva who has been silently waiting twiddling her thumbs. Or awaken the diva who has been in a long cold sleep from utter boredom of not being able to use her creativity! There is no telling what she can manifest when she is given free rein by us. On the Artist's Way site there is a lot of interesting information on this book and what others are doing with it too. In the meantime, I will keep you posted each week on my thoughts about the required tasks as I am undergoing my excavation. |
